Vagaries of my Mind

Sipping hot hazelnut milk and sitting across the window pane,
My mind suddenly wanders in the realms of forgotten lane,
I see myself much younger weaving a million colorful dreams
Some for self some for others, every bit of them gleams
And then like a shudder I see my reflection in the window glass
No more am I so good, naive or innocent, no more I'm that lass
Comparison starts a thousand types of present and the past
A deep realization occurs within of things that didn't last
Oh behold my thoughts they are still running the those dark lanes
Why can't we ponder through life like we look across the window panes!
